Stars thrown across a black sky
Ghostly trees in the dark
Hands stretched toward something
Just out of reach
A lonesome bird’s cry
Echoes through the night
Icy, winter winds blow
In the summer of my soul
Hurt slices my heart
With a dull, rusty, razor
Bright red splatters the floor like rain
I thought I heard laughter off in the distance
Like thunder from an approaching storm
Shadows lurk along the edge
Of an endless twilight
The pale moonlight out of place
Without you and I
Underneath its warm glow
A love so bitter sweet
Haunts me after dark
I feel its dead fingers
Creeping around my neck
Tears trickle down as I rest
My head against a cold window pane
Staring out at the stars
I implore with each one
Please grant me this wish I wish tonight
To be with him
Beyond eternity’s light
