Waiting to Recover

On days like today
When I'm feeling blasé
Convalescence, not all I can be;
Pressing on anyway
Through the sub-neutral gray
Clearer skies waiting for me to see.
My desire to go
Where I please, where I know
No not yet, I must stay here and rest;
On this silent plateau
Looking down to below
But my best right now isn't my best.
Like a snail in shell
Not much more I can tell,
What a slow inconvenient chore;
Does no good to rebel,
I'll be well when I'm well --
Only then, not one moment before.
