Cat Grass

This little story is very true
It all started early this Spring
One day I wondered what I would do
Then I thought of just the right thing.
I meandered outside to see a sad sight
My flowerbed was completely bare
Planting flowers would help make my day so bright
In this beautiful Springtime fresh air.
I went to the store to buy some seeds
To grow as this season does pass
I found many kinds that would fit my needs
But I also discovered Cat Grass.
I planted the seeds in my flowerbed,
Within days they all started to sprout
The cat grass did not like my flowers, instead
It crowded the rest of them out.
Before I knew what I'd actually sowed
The cat grass completely took over.
A neighbor asked when would the jungle be mowed
Or was I growing some animal stover.
But I began to see a few curoius cats
In the grass they joyously wallowed
They chased away all of the menacing rats
And later many more cats followed.
The grass they chewed and flossed their teeth
And some of the grass they ate
The location to others the cats did bequeath,
But I didn't see the forthcoming fate.
They ate all the grass so nothing was left
Then they all went away somewhere.
Now I'm back where I started, feeling somewhat bereft
Once again my flowerbed is bare.
