Low Self-Esteem, Yet Loved

If only someone loved me
As much as I loved myself;
What a statement of guile and gall!
For if someone loved me
As I do for myself
It would seem I'd have no friends at all.
Still the one who loves me
Stays despite all my faults
And continues to love, nevertheless;
Asking why not move on,
When my patience is gone?
He says, "Why, when I have the best?"
Surely that cannot be!
Is he talking of me?
Yes he is, I should not feel so small --
For if someone loved me
As I do for myself
I am sure I'd have no friends at all.
