Prayer Across Different Beliefs

There seems only "one" I deserve
Don't know why, and who can tell?
He is by my side each time
And has been through my own Hell.
As have I through his, you see
Not as much, it's his own choice;
Yet together we shall be
For I know he's heard my voice.
As I have heard his too
And there is no one to blame
Human lives are not so different
In fact, they're just the same!
He is Methodist and I am not
Still there has never been a blight
Just one candle I have lit,
In response, one he will light --
For 'tis not about religion
But about those things we share
It is all so very simple
As we each believe in prayer.
Author's Notes: About me and my husband. He has been adapting his own Methodist beliefs to mine, but in a Methodist sort of way. Even the Christian religion lights candles and incense. So it is not so different than what I do... Except, I do it directly, and not through someone else. And, my husband is starting to realize, his prayers are his own, and do not need to first go through someone else.
