Conceive, Believe, Receive

by Phronesus Disegno
 Age Group: Adult

A spark of imagination Conceived into summarized thought From feelings that remain lingering Asking for what is desired Created by perception Filtered by experience...
Brought into active consciousness Nurtured by belief Created recursively by possibility Into further possibility visualized Guided by what is actual As if already true
Patience calmly put forth Exploration detailed by alertness Focusing attention on materialization Recognizing patterns of formation Following the path of gratitude And receiving the manifestation of will.
Author's Notes: Have you ever thought of a friend you haven't seen in a while, and then suddenly they call you on the phone or you run into them somewhere out in public?
I suspect that having the same state of mind as you had when thinking of your friend, whatever it may be, is one way to achieve one's will for other purposes (that is, besides hearing from a friend you haven't seen in a while) . There were certain feelings, thoughts, sensations, states of alertness, focus, concentration and "being" (all of which came naturally and effortlessly) when you thought of your friend. Were you paying attention to it all as you were doing it? Paying attention to yourself is one integral part of "knowing yourself." If you can do it once, you can do it again and again. And again, any time you will it to happen. "Will" doesn't work so well if it is forced into conscious analysis and critical evaluation of every detail. That is, unless such things cause it to work for you because you believe such things are necessary. Me personally? The harder I try, the harder it is to achieve my own will. That is because I believe that every human being in existence has the ability to practice Magick easily and effortlessly. Tools help only if one believes they help; otherwise they are a distraction.
If you can recreate that frame of mind you had when you simply "thought" of a friend and then later encountered your friend, and apply that same state of being to your will for other things, then I strongly suspect that you can achieve your will for other things as well -- knowing what you want, believing in it as if it were already true, and the willingness to receive it. In my opinion, those three steps are a good summary, but in all actuality are far more complex than necessarily need be. Complexity exists only because one believes it exists. After all, it was natural and effortless to think of a friend, only to have them appear.
