I Am Glad

I am glad we went no further
Than what we did that night
I am glad we did not partake
Of the forbidden fruit of light
For now that we've parted our ways
And found our paths of life,
Looking back at us then
I realize our choice was right
Author's Notes: In my life, I've had many encounters of an intimate nature, all of them beautiful and deeply communicative, all of them special. Paganism teaches sacred sexuality, and often we pay most attention to those realms that involve the active role of sexuality, either gay or straight, that result in the sex act and all the intimacy and celebration that that entails. But sacred sexualilty is also about the limits we have for ourselves, those paths we do not go down. Sometimes the sex act is not the end result, and the communication that ends before the sex act would have begun is the most special part, for it is sometimes in saying 'no' that we respect the divine part in each of us. I still love all my lovers, even those whose bodies I've never felt.
