The Real Reason Cats Purr

My little (now big) kitten-cats
Do many things for sure;
But one thing keeps perplexing me,
Is why cats love to purr?
Some scientists believe cats purr
To indicate their pleasure,
But also it could indicate
When stress is in high measure;
Cats purr when nursing little ones,
And sometimes when they eat;
Or maybe, when they catch a mouse
With pride in their defeat...
It's said that when you hear cats purr
Blood pressure lowers some,
The sound can help you fall asleep
With pleasant dreams to come.
Yet sometimes cats pull little stunts
So mischivous they be,
And even when they make a mess
They keep enchanting me...
They spill their food and water bowl
And knock things off high places,
They run around like lightning bolts
Still charming me with graces...
Then just when I'm about to scream
They blink with eyes that twinkle,
And just when I have calmed myself,
The litterbox does stinkle.
So... having cats has made me think,
Though purring brings elation,
Their cuteness is a secret plot
For whole world domination!
