If I Never Knew You

If we had never met before
Where would I be today?
You've touched my life so many ways,
How many I can't say.
You listened when my heart was down
And set my sadness free,
Respected my opinion too
And loved me just for me.
You cared when no one else knew how,
Protected me with grace,
From things you've done and things you do
My world's a better place.
You've added meaning to my life
And given so much more
'Cause if I never knew your love
I'd just be like before
I've changed since you've come to my life
My fears have been surpassed,
I'm far more now, because of you
Good riddance to the past!
There's one last thing that I must say
Before this poem's end --
Thank you, love, with all my heart!
I cherish you, my friend.
