Pan Was Waiting for Me

Twas many many years ago
Below the bright blue skies
A local park I liked the most
I walked for exercise
I always went to that one place
And still do to this day
But just this past week I found out
A fact along the way
Back then I had no patron god
But knew one day I would
Today I know the Great God Pan
And finally understood
His favorite tree, the Mighty Oak
Has always been mine too
So when I went there days ago
I suddenly just knew
That park is filled with old oak trees
It took so long to see
My patron god was always there
And waiting just for me
And so this poem is to say
A "thank you" to my Pan
For he was right there watching me
As I became a man
So now when I go to that park
For weekly exercise
We walk together hand-in-hand
Below the bright blue skies
