AIDS Scare (tanka)

My heart stops more than
The space of a breath, grateful.
AIDS you do not have.
My heart crushed when you feared it
And tears I shed dry away.
My heart crushed again
And I, angry, beat my fist
Against uncaring sky
As another diagnosed
My world collapses.
Another lover comes
Across with truth once hidden
And the dread disease
Reappears in shadows here
Scoffing life and love
