This Lunar Night

Agreeing for once, this lunar night
Eclipse our anger far from sight.
With you the Moon, and me the Sun
For just one moment, becoming One.
Release our anger to be gone,
Allow dissention to move on.
We both were wrong, we both were right;
But I never wanted us to fight
I shot my arrow far too high
I never meant to make you cry
You held my hand with genuine pride
Not knowing how bad I felt inside
We spent this time with only fuss
Without a moment to discuss
The reasons we didn't get along
Though both of us tried to be strong
I'm not prepared to try again,
You're better off not asking when,
But let's not thrash each other's throat,
Let's part our ways with this last note:
For just one moment, becoming One
With you the Moon, and me the Sun
Eclipse our anger far from sight
Agreeing for once, this lunar night.
Author's Notes: This poem was an offering of truce between me and an unreasonable person. I suppose anyone who would want a true resolution to interpersonal problems would have recieved it well. The feedback from others, from the few who chose to respond to this poem only validated my point, as they too were ones who had reached a limit, knowing nothing else to do but throw thier hands up like I did, and think, some problems just can't be solved with some people, at least not within a reasonable time frame after it had become clear that, for me, I had spent too much time working for something that just wasn't meant to be.
Perhaps I should mention as an addendum, how this particular person only used my truce as an invitation to be nice for a moment or two, only to return to the person who he always was from the beginning. Needless to say, it didn't work. Oh well, sometimes things are like that.
May your attempts to keep trying succeed, and may you realize in your own life if ever it becomes time to let go and move on. And may this unreasonable person realize that just because I was willing to try one last time, that it didn't mean I was willing to let go of my identity and inner strength, as I already have friends who have always been willing to work with me, helping me to move on with my life instead of wallowing in mind games that might prevent me from being the innately happy person I have always been meant to be.
