Maybe, Just Maybe...

The model in the magazine,
With a perfect body,
And perfect teeth,
And a perfect smile
Look at him and wish
You could be like him
Look at him and think
That you would be happier
Maybe...
Maybe you have a hairy belly
That pooches out
Maybe you are no longer
A spring chicken
Maybe you even have hair
On your back
Maybe the tides of time
Have visited you on many occasions
Maybe you are no longer
"Young and beautiful"
like you once were
Maybe you are approaching
Those years beyond middle age
And maybe you are no longer that model
In that magazine...
Maybe you have touched my heart
Like no one else has ever done
Maybe I think of you every day
And can hardly wait to be with you again
Maybe when your belly touches my back
When we cuddle, I feel safe
Maybe when I hold you
I have felt security I've never known
Maybe I'm afraid to say
"I love you"
when I really do
Because, you know,
I do love you
More than I thought was possible
Maybe you don't realize that
I worship your body and honor you
...as you honor me
Maybe you have given me reason
To prove my code of chivalry
Maybe, just maybe...
Maybe you have given me a reason
To fall in love
...and maybe that's exactly why
Of all the men in this world...
I chose YOU
I chose you to love for my very own
Maybe that's why I am willing to love you
More than I have loved anyone else
in this entire world.
