I'm a Better Christian Than You

I'm not that politically active
Unless you don't think like I do
At which point I'll rule your life
For I'm a Better Christian than you.
Religion and government separated
Until "I" want to combine the two
So that "I" can make claim to power
For I'm a Better Christian than you.
I speak of loving thy neighbor
As long as they believe like I do
If they don't, I'm allowed to judge them
For I'm a Better Christian than you.
I am found in the church each Sunday
The other days they don't know what I do
I only need to make an appearance
For I'm a Better Christian than you.
I'm the bringer of all Good News!
As I stare down from Heaven at you
Have a speedy descent to Hell!
For I'm a Better Christian than you.
I can oppress your very soul
By saying, What Would Jesus Do?
My intentions shall not be challenged
For I'm a Better Christian than you.
Jesus' teachings no longer matter
For the world shall think like I do
I am right, and you are wrong
For I'm a Better Christian than you.
I don't need to use my brain
The Religious Right thinks for me and you.
Only the Devil would use his brain
So I'm a Better Christian than you.
I am desperate to put others down
Couldn't care less if their heart is true
I get a charge from spouting off,
I'm a Better Christian than you.
Where did you get that lousy outfit?
I bought mine at Saks Fifth Avenue.
Love the sinner but hate their clothes,
For I'm a Better Christian than you.
Author's Notes: Just a little rant after thinking about the complete nonsense of "Christian Victory" from the recent USA Presidential Election 2004. You know what I think? It's just what they asked for, but they will soon see that it's not what they really wanted. I believe the pendulum will at least begin to swing back to reason in 2008. And did you know that the three states most against Gay marriage are the same exact three states with the highest divorce rates. And a friend told me that he heard somewhere on the news that the states won by Kerry have not only a more progressive attitude, but also a higher average intelligence quotient.
