Mis-Spell

I began the spell
With all in place
And I chanted the words
With utter grace
I raised my hands up
To the Great Divine
And twirled around
(I'd been sipping wine)
I lit a white candle
Like a serious Mage
But dropped my spellbook
And lost the page
I bent myself over
Without any malice
I reached for the book
But knocked down the chalice
Aghast, I had spilled
My chalice of wine!
I had more in the bottle
I thought would be fine;
I went for the bottle
But started to think,
I sure would feel better
If I had one more drink...
I refilled the chalice
With wine that was white
It didn't take long
To start feeling alright,
I sat for an hour
Drinking wine at full throttle
And to my dismay
I emptied the bottle
It seems I remember
I chanted some words
Then slept on the sofa
To the tweeting of birds;
The candle burned out
With the book on the floor
My spell had been cast,
But, what was it for? ;-)
Author's Notes: Okay, this didn't really happen! Hopefully I have never been quite as irresponsible as I have portrayed in my fictional poem. But alas, I do indeed like to have a glass of wine with dinner. :-)
