With limited information
When one must recriminate
Why does it give elation
To merely extrapolate?
Filling in the the blanks
With what they want to force,
Interjecting thier own opinion,
Never learning from the source?
Believing they know enough
To try to intervene,
Perpetuate the madness
And yet remain unseen.
With self-serving intents
To overtake this Earth
To put in their two cents,
When that is all it's worth.
Discouraging a process
That is well underway,
With no responsibility,
They still must have their say.
I surely beg their pardon
And I don't mean to maul,
But I just keep forgetting,
They think they know it all.
I like another viewpoint
But not judgemental bore
I don't usually give advice
I'm sure they've heard before.
But here's my advice to them,
It's so long overdue,
If I want your opinion,
Then I'll give it to you.
Author's Notes: Democracy in action, this poem is my stance on how Gay Rights Issues were among the last-minute issues used to sway voters in the last USA Presidential Election 2004. It doesn't make sense that the issue to ban Gay marriage was left up to voters, since it is obvious that the Gay population is the minority. How can a minority group and their friends and family ever achieve a victory, even if all of them vote the same way, when the rest of the nation doesn't even want to understand the issues? I believe the legislatures just wanted to do a little somethin' so that they could later say "look what we tried to do."
It really irritates me when people think they know what the deal is, when they were never any part of it, they've never lived it, and never cared to find out. All they know is that "someone over there" is different or doesn't think like they do, so they think they are justified in drawing premature conclusions and determining what is best for them, or assessing the situation when in my humble opinion, they never knew "Sh*t from Shinola".
However, I believe on the ballots, at least here, the State Question 711 to ban Gay marriage was poorly worded, which is a good thing. It means that even though the vast majority voted to ban Gay marriage, it won't be so difficult for the state to overrule it at some point in the future. After all, it would take such an action in this type of political environment.
