Coming Out To A Loved One

My boyfriend, what should I do?
I have shown my heart is true.
You don't know my spiritual path,
So alone I travel with you.
You've inspired my heart so much
And I realize you have your own.
Mine may not coincide,
I'm afraid my chance is blown.
But you know I love you for you,
I can't even be with anyone else.
I've had the prominent temptations,
Yet I must be true to myself.
I can do anything I want,
And I think that's why you like me,
For you are the ONE in my life,
Enraptured, yet I still am FREE!
I am free to just be me,
With you I've never had a fear,
But to reveal my spiritual path
Makes me terrified with fear.
It can only be your choice
If you choose to stay with me,
If I promise to love only you,
Will you still love me for me?
Author's Notes: This will be the first in a series. I'll let you know what happens when I reveal my spiritual path to my loved one, who is the son of an Episcopalian priest; and he knows I have posted poetry on this forum, and says, "I don't care, you're a good man." He didn't explore the website, he only found the web address of it in his "recent history list" on the computer at his home. I hope to write good news for you in the future. But I can't wait any longer, we've been together since July 2004. Now it's time to see what he thinks about a few things he doesn't fully know about me.
