The Power of Words

Age Group: Adult
All words have potential power,
Perhaps beyond anyone's ken;
One's thoughts released into sound,
And from sound into thoughts again.
To heal humiliations,
Or destroy what one has built,
To remove desire for vengenace,
And free the mind from guilt.
They restore one's self-respect
When one is rendered without power,
They can transform into sweetness
What was once bitter and sour.
The one who causes the pain,
Who caused another to be depleted,
Will have to risk the guilt,
And feel weak and defeated
To show sincere remorse
Do away with all suspense
And take responsibility
Acknowledging the specific offense.
Even with the deepest wounds,
Although this may sound strange,
But great healing can occur
When there's true intent to change.
Such power in just two words
That bring chaos to its demise
And restore those things once lost,
When one says, I apologize.
