Living for the Here and Now

Age Group: Adult
An hour has passed,
It's behind me already.
A day has passed,
Still fresh in my mind.
A week has passed,
Time is flowing steady.
A month has passed,
Reviewing thoughts intertwined.
A year has passed,
Recollecting all that I did.
One decade has passed,
Only highlights remain clear.
Many decades have passed,
Long lost memories of a kid.
And with so much life passed,
Still digging for earliest years.
Infinite possibilites
That I could have done,
Have been narrowed by time
Into this singular one.
And those thoughts of the past
I'll take with me somehow,
But I cherish the most,
The right here and now.
So much life left to pass,
Fathoming so far ahead.
Many decades will pass,
With fuzzy goals to achieve.
One decade will pass,
Making plans now to tread.
And a year will pass
Much like this one, I believe.
A month will pass,
And I've SO much to do!
A week will pass,
Keeping time steady and pleasant.
A day will pass,
I'll soon see it all through!
And when an hour has passed,
I'll still cherish the present.
Infinite possibilites
Still have yet to be done,
Branching eternally unknown
From this singular one.
And though thoughts of the future
Will stay with me somehow,
I will still cherish most
The right here and now.
