Standing Stones

Tall they stand, like sentinels
Guarding the sacred place.
Each channeling the energy
Through it’s craggy, weathered face.
They have stood like that for centuries,
In silent, somber ring.
They’ve been there through the ages
All encompassing.
Silent witnesses to much
They keep all secrets hid,
All knowing, never moving
As the ages, by them slid.
The rise and fall of empires,
Revolutions, battles fought.
Years of drought and hunger,
Many lessons have been taught.
And yet, the stones stay standing
In their circle tall and proud,
As the people come to worship
Upon their sacred ground.
