Dolphin Dreams

Dream on little dolphin,
Dream of your childhood sea.
Dream of the times that now are past,
Of times when you were free.
Forget the tank you swim in,
Forget it is so small,
Forget that you’re the only life
That’s in the tank at all.
Think back now to your younger days,
When racing boats was fun.
Forget that now it’s over
That those fun filled days are done.
Relive the days of glory
When you dove from wave to wave,
Before man came and put you
In this sterile watery grave.
I know you miss your family,
I know you miss the sea,
I know it is unbearable,
This yearning to be free.
I’m sorry that they make you,
Leap up through high held hoops,
I’m sorry that they make you
Swim around the pool in loops.
So dream on little dolphin,
Dream of your deep blue sea.
Dream of a time that may yet come
When once more you’ll swim free.
