Free Traveler in the slave land
by Singing Crow
Age Group: Adult
For I have walked the labyrinthine passageways
Of our ever-feeding cities
Where men and women are bought and sold
‘Neath cold towering concrete where the billboards
Are hung, a noose to catch young eyes
And bind souls into wordless contracts
Of Earth-slaying competition and domination
Sensation, a thousand rumors
Of meaningless gain
Here beings become things
The living forest becomes a resource
Women become objects
Men become means to an end
Children born blind by dull screen’s glare
Do you care? That the need to control
Takes each soul, and shackles dreams?
It seems a fitting time for song to return
To break through minds
Like sun through clouds
For the herbs and fungi to be set free
And redeemed
For every organism on this planet is sacred
Rise Shamans, rise
Surfers of Consciousness,
To breath life into the visions long dormant.
Let us fill the defeated with music
Ancient song of most potent energy
