And the Goddess Said

And the Goddess said,
"Come, my child,
And rest a while.
I know your journey
Has been long and hard.
I know that you are weary.
Now, your hardships
Shall be no more.
Your pain shall cease at last.
Come into the Cradle of the Earth.
Come into my arms.
Come, my child,
And rest a while."
Author's Notes: I wrote this poem just days before my wedding. At first I thought it was about death. On my honeymoon I was out in the woods by a river and I realized that this poem is also about the time spent on my honeymoon. This was my time, the first time in a long time, that I was able to really rest. And the journey that my husband and I have taken getting to this point has been long and hard. For those few sweet days we had no hardships and even our back pains subsided. The woods and rivers we were surrounded by were the Cradle of the Earth, the arms of the Goddess. I have not felt Her presence so strongly as I did on my honeymoon.
