Flying Solo

Alone again, I sit confused
Paper and pen both in my hand
A break up once again my muse
Just another grain of sand
I can’t pretend that I won’t miss
The way his eyes would shine
When I pulled back from a kiss
For awhile, he was mine
I wish that things could have worked out
Between he and I
Perhaps I have some awful quirk
Solo again, I fly
At least this time I am not left
To pick up the pieces
Of my heart, but I was deft
In protection from the creases
Now I’m to try to play the game
Of finding my Prince Charming
Thrown back so quick I think it lame
Rather than alarming
The sun still shines upon my skin
And I revel in his rays
The wind stops my tailspin
But I’ve seen tougher days
Watch out men, I’m on the prowl
To hunt beneath the moon
I’ll flex my claws, let out a growl
My challenge? Make me swoon
Author's Notes: Just wrote this yesterday. It's not my best, but I think it's cute. Kind of. In an odd way.
