The Thing in My Heart

The thing in my heart
Can't be explained.
But it lives there with love
Still all the same.
It holds every color.
It knows every fact.
When someone is troubled,
It knows how to react.
With wings it swoops in
Gently and sweet
And scoops up our sorrows
In its black scaly feet.
It sings clean our sadness
In a song with no notes
And paints over our pain scars
With generous coats.
Jabbing our joys
With its sharp feathered beak
It soars to the sun
So that they may speak.
The thing in my heart
That can't be explained,
Lives there with love
Still all the same.
My heart is so happy
To have such a thing
That takes all its troubles
And shows it to sing.
