Metamorphasis

Happiness, warmth, a common familiarity
Bumped knee, scraped arm, no one there
Pressure building, it's time to do or die
Good grades, bad days, wish you were here
Bad grades, good days, because you were there
Back and forth, I don't feel as though I fit
Time spent together but felt as though I was alone
Now I am just a throw away kid
Move foward steadily, no looking backtrack
new friends, new family, just isn't the same
Years gone and nothing better, just getting lost
Lost in my mind, lost to the world
On tour with the Dead, found happiness again
Jerry died so I came home, started over one more time
Now I am just a throw away lad
False happiness comes with every new friend
no one understands me, no one tries
hide my feelings, deep within myself
do this, go there, don't do that pig
why can' t you be like us, Why do I have to
babies on the way gotta conform
Now I am just a throw away dad
Broken promises, bruised ego
maybe next time I'll get it right
things lost but not forgotten
never again, no, no, never again
tears shed, nothing said
bitten back, get on track
Picked myself up to start again
Looked inside and you were still there
Lord and Lady always cared
driving force to guide me right
Happiness found again in the night
Reading is fundamental
but practice makes perfect
You can't get what you don't try for
It hard to believe it's getting better
getting better all the time
Fast foward to present time, everthing feeling fine
evolution took its course, look ma no hands
change is suprisingly constant, a steady beacon
guiding light to somewhere, wish I new
That's O.K. got some people by my side
the road is long and the work is hard
rewards though are what it's all for
Smiles, laughs and a gentle warmth

Author's Notes: Just some thoughts on growing up in life with a split family. Took me awhile to figure out that all I need I have inside. Everything else is just filler. Yea it can be nice but it's not what makes the world go round. The Lady and Lord will help you, if you take the time out to ask. If you don't practice what you preach, then you will either get rusty and break or your value will just drop. Well hope you enjoyed.
