The Hanged Woman

I saw myself today
Somewhere out in space
Lying on a table, looking up between my knees
Into the light
I felt a soul return there
but It wasn't Mine.
I saw the blood today.
It was for the first time.
They had told me it would come.
I didn't understand why they said it
so many times.
It was because I didn't understand.
I cried it out today.
Today is the fifth day.
My rational mind tries to latch
onto some ceremonial meaning,
Some attribution that will make it
all be okay. Numerology is pitiless
to save me.
I value life today
because of one that never
fully formed. And I feel bloodguilt
that I find, in this, the good.
How should it be so?
That for a thing that could be
of life I instead chose death?
And now I find it in me
to value life?
Could I not have understood everything
before last Wednesday?
