The Departed

The Departed
Quiet, so silent, as a rock or a stone,
Not breathing or moving, calmly alone.
Motionless, mindless, finished and done,
Look not for a soul here, it’s flown to the sun.
And in that hot star, eternally burning,
Are the greatest of spirits surging and churning.
Relaxation and warmth their constant companions,
The rest after battle for out noble champions.
Stillness they know not, nor boredom, nor sorrow,
But motion and fire in each rising tomorrow.
By strength, divine courage, is white flame a friend,
For the fearless and doubtless, life never shall end.
Author's Notes: This piece was written in for my growing tradition of solar veneration, but also as a vision of homage to our ancestors. I have utilized my Norse background of afterlife projection being based on will and actions. So here the sun can be seen as a form of Valhalla, from which our ancestors shine their guidence upon us.
