The Journey

Come with me on a joureny to the center of my mind.
Walk with me through labyrinth halls knowledge to find.
Down deep dark paths we'll trod exposing new views,
Seeking that which lie hidden in a haze of blue.
The spiral stairs ascending, forever do they wind.
Always seeking answers to questions of a different kind.
Vaguely at first a white light seems to appear,
Its presence to guide us without harm or fear.
At the bottom of the stairs, there sits a child,
Beauty in innocence, a soul so meek and mild.
She begins her sojourn with wide open eys,
Looking for answers, she takes wing and flies.
On a higher level, another step, a maiden sits,
Trying to figure out how the puzzle all fits.
She sits all alone in her castle on high,
Asking age old questions and wondering why.
Ahead on the path, a halcyon feeling surrounds,
Sits an aged old woman with whom comfort is found.
Secure in the knowledge she has obtained,
Without any regrets, time to visit another plane.
I hope through this journey, I've helped you to see,
There's more to life than our present reality.
We must be leaving now, the time draws near,
I must get you home, my name I faintly hear.
Author's Notes: This was one of the first poems I ever wrote, even before my craft days. So it is probably vague, but important in ways. I was probably about 17--18 at the time. I do hope my poetry has improved since then, 'specially since I am now 44!
