Please Don't.....

How can you say that you love me?
When all that you do is hurt me.
I try to do what's good & right,
So why do you have to hurt me tonight?
I know it's way past the afternoon,
As I'm chained to my bed in my room.
Don't have any fun or feelings,
As my broken bones & spirit are healing.
Don't those cigarette burns on my skin,
Make you feel ugly & sick from within?
I don't want to be your ashtray!
Oh mommy, can't I go out & play?
Author's Notes: Child abuse iis one of my many sore subjects. abused myself, many of my poems reflect my own personal life. Some do not. This one, I started writing as a song, but never finished it. I also worked in a Nursing Home for Pediatrics. I had to take care of some pretty disturbing cases. Children, who from age 4 have been in a NURSING HOME because of abuse. In a coma, never to arise again. So this is one of my causes, I vowed to never let go of.
