Bane

Laboring to breathe in my gloomy cell,
I'm trapped inside a hollowed shell.
Night as long as the year,
Forevermore the sounds of hate I hear.
My hands clasp the guilded hilt
And soon I leak scarlet guilt.
Soon after, I enter the deadened plain,
My corpse still wrapped up in a world of pain.
I gaze upon the priest of the underworld.
A grinning joker around whose body souls swirled.
A dead rose in one hand,
And a caged owl in the other, he has firm command.
To me he speaks in tongues arcane,
The thrills of love a complete bane.
I've made it to my goal,
Filled up a blackened hole.
Dissension to a higher level,
In malice's macabre celebration I revel.
In a stupor I dance,
Never feeling loss's lance.
As my time comes,
I catch the tone of solemn drums.
There is a twinkle in the joker's eye,
Horrified, I back away as I understand the lie.
His claws grip my pounding heart,
He commences with his grisly art.
I hear a thousand voices
As the damned man rejoices.
With a wrench, he tears me asunder.
A scream later and my knees buckle under.
I listen to the muttering in my mind,
Groping about, blind.
The shadow passes over the moon,
Lighting the pieces of body strewn
Over the dew-tipped grass,
Allowing my soul to pass.
My lids flutter and give entrance to sight.
And I find myself at the beginning of the same night.
Laboring to breathe in my gloomy cell,
I'm trapped inside my hollow shell....
Author's Notes: This poem is actually meant to be interpreted deeper than actual suicide. I was never suicidal and please do not try to contact me with words of condolence. I am a happy person and am willing to talk about just about anything else, though.
