The Awakening

The Awakening
A lonely cry in the night
No one willing to hear
A silent tear
A deep insight to life
Why
We know not who we are
Why not
The mist is closing in
A clamor of voices
But no sound
Drowned out by our own hand
Is life so vain?
Glimmers of light
Here and there
Surrounded by the darkness
Of our own making
The cliff is steep
Forever marching to the edge
Will the drums stop beating?
Will we awaken in time?
Sacred Mother quietly weeps
So many doors stand open
Yet we walk so blindly
Ever towards the chasm
Shall we pretend not to be?
Ignoring the day
Embracing the night
Afraid of what we might see?
Imperfection is our lesson
Can we accept the answers?
Will the clamor subside?
Her children must decide
Sacred Mother pauses
Which way will we choose?
Spiritual life
Or the fantasy we have created?
