Why is it?

Age Group: Adult
One day I decided to no experience life as a human
To escape from the anger
To leave behind the jealousy and the self centeredness
To forego the unbridled hatred humankind thrives upon
And so I shifted into the form of a bear
But soon humans were hunting me down
Intent upon my death
All for the price of my hide
And so I shifted into a fish
But then humans came with a seine
Looking to gaffe me
Ready to dine on my flesh
So I shifted into a fly
And I narrowly escaped being swatted
Human’s intent on killing me
Viciously trying to end my life
And so I shifted into a pheasant
And shots began to ring out
My feathers scattered all about
As humans took random aim at me
So then I shifted into a bug
And a heel narrowly missed me
A human seeking to squash me
For what reason I did not know
And so I shifted back to human form
Only to find myself being attacked
One human attacking another
Murder on the mind
As I lay dying my voice cried out
What lesson is this?
And a voice answered back
It is the lesson of being human
