Chains of Love

I'd do anything for you
even let you go
we were better off as friends
that I now know.
It seemed so simple that we should be together
fate had other plans
we thought we'd be friends forever.
I treated you the best that I could
and gave you all my heart
I weakened my resistance & let down my guard.
You were my forever friend
one that I told everything to
I lost my best friend ...what am I to do?
Bound by what I thought was love
was really only need
I was afraid of being alone
you were nothing like you seemed.
I love you so much it hurts
that we must part
I have only bruises
but I will have no scars.
