Yule Is Upon Us

Yule Is Upon Us
Yule’s now upon us
With its promise of Spring;
It’s happened so quickly,
How can it be…?
Our candles are lighted,
Bayberry and evergreen
Whilst smoke of white sage
Wafts cleansing all around…
Snowy blanket purest white
Surrounds all and protects,
While waxing moon crescent
Hangs beauteously o’erhead…
The wheels keep on turning
Each season unto the next,
Spring into Summer then Autumn,
Now darkness of Winter – begins…
Tomorrow’s yet ‘nother day,
Yet not quite the same –
For days begin to lengthen,
With promise made of Spring…
The chasm of dark harsh Winter
Still awaits our passage through,
Yet warmth and renewal will happen
With celebrations of our Sun’s rebirth!
Winter Sol-stice is upon us:
Shortest day, longest night –
When Yule torch is handed
From one, to another, honored…
Oak King husbanded the fertile Land,
Yet now Holly King, freshly re-born,
Accepts his flaming torch from aged one,
Who’s now returning unto sacred soils…
Sacred flame, we honor you,
As with faith it’s fully known –
Renewal will happen, for it must,
With better times promised ahead….
