Seasons of Rain

spring rain is rare
it falls quietly for a little while
as though stopping for a brief glimpse
at the newborn flowers
and fades.
summer comes in a torrent
blinding and noisy
with a flash of light
it is gone.
autumn is gentle and patient
soft drops make changing leaves shine
and linger into the night
then sun rises late
and chases the clouds away.
winter falls cold
freezing under the watch of the moon
blackens the bare trees
striking them hard
on a whirling wind who shows no mercy
but dies
when frost melts into rivers.
