Requiem for Nick

Age Group: Adult
With indifferent eyes
and blood soaked tears
a feud between two countries
borne out of fear.
We hate what we don't know
and believe all we see
are we receiving the whole story?
or just what they put on T.V?
There are too many casualties
on both sides of the coin
retaliation is always bittersweet
is there ever any point?
He is lost to us now
forever our homegrown boy
who believed in peace
and was brutally destroyed.
His selfless act of hope
can for some define us
For Nicholas Berg....
it wasn't a random act of kindness.
Author's Notes: This poem is about Nick Berg, who recently was brutally executed in Iraq. If you are reading this please do one act of random kindess towards someone...let's make it a chain effect around the country.
