The spiral haired Medusa

by MorriganWest83
 Age Group: Adult

A beautiful girl with a fatal downfall, wanting to be loved and admired by all. A slithering moment she thought was the air, until she noticed it was her own hair. It stood and it flowed with spirals on end, constantly moving like snakes in the wind. All the popular girls paled to her sight, with her hair they were strangled and they lost all their light. Everyone around admired it's flow, they watched in amazement as it changed in it's growth. Her arms flowing to the dance of it's hiss, she finally stood out, she was finally in bliss. The spirals grew larger the hair grew so long, she didn't seem to notice something was wrong. For her skin grew so frail in which she looked aged, but she didn't care on her personal stage. She grew oh so tired but she needed more eyes, to watch her new beauty to be mesmerized. She wasted away with all eyes on her, hair displaying itself as she died on the curb. For she finally got the attention she craved, with her winding decent to her spiral haired grave.
Author's Notes: I wrote this poem when I first got clean. I saw a movie called Uzumaki: A Japanese horror movie about the deadly obsession with spirals. And although her part was brief there was a girl who wanted to be the center of attention and her hair became curly and wavy then stood on end and got longer and as it grew she grew weaker and frail. in the end all she was was a skeleton propped up by her hair on a telephone pole the hair taking up the street for miles it seemed. I later has dreams of a similar figure and looked it up and later found out that Japanese mythology and folklore had their own Medusa (s) . Extremely vain attention craving girls where their hair and nails and so on would grow and form flowing spirals mesmerizing everyone hypnotizing onlookers until the girls would become lifeless skeletons frozen like statues and the hair would keep growing even after the were dead until there was no protein left in them and the hair and nails would float away.......
