Banshee

You hear her throughout field and fen,
along the road, marsh, bog, or glen.
Her voice doth rise to fevered pitch
you want to flee, hide in a ditch.
Your limbs are froze, the sound is fey.
You pee your kilt, or so they say.
You pray that she's naught come for thee,
the Lady White, the fair Bean-Sidhe.
She comes by night to keen anew
'fore daybreak death; could it be you?
And by the break of dawn's first light
a family member's soul takes flight.
You kneel, give thanks, 'twas naught for thee
the Lady Cold, the oulde Bean-Sidhe.
