Slow Burn

There's a slow burn inside me
melting down my heart,
flames raging all around me
but the fire's just a part
of the heat and the intensity
of what you're going to feel
'cause the spark that we made
was a grand masquerade
as you said from the start
you would tear up my heart.
The lie of your devotion
is what you say you feel
but the words have no emotion
and you take what you can steal.
When I think of what you meant to me
it really breaks my heart.
As your game is revealed
you use love as a shield
and I see the charade
is that why you're afraid?
Now the love is gone
with the light of dawn
we have undergone a change.
There's a slow burn inside me
growing every day while my anger tries to chain me
I must let you have your way.
In the end my satisfaction
is knowing you can't win.
As I reach for what's right
I will NEVER lose sight
of the pain in my heart
and this battle's the start.
Now the lines are drawn
and the love is gone
we have undergone a change.
Your lies created this...

I anticipated this...

You orchestrated this...
(slow burn)
There's NO ESCAPE FROM MY
SLOW BURN!!!
There's a slow burn inside me
tearing me apart
Flames raging all around me
but the fire's just the start
And you think I'll show forgiveness
for all the things you've done?
You've been wrong from the start
while you played with my heart.
I don't care what you say
there's a price you will pay.
Now the lines are drawn
and the love is gone.
I have undergone a change.
