Pointless

I’m dying in yesterday’s future—
And living in tomorrow’s past—
And I only wonder just how long
This tiny life will last.
It’s all so very pointless—
This thing we all call “life”—
And I wonder why we don’t all turn
To pills or a razor knife.
How very sad this race is—
The wars—the drugs—the hate—
And I wonder if there’s any hope,
Or if we’re all too late.
It’s uphill all the way, you know,
From birth to life to death.
We always seem to miss the summit
As we take a ragged breath.
We often miss the sunrise—
We often pass the storm—
Without so much as missing
All the beauty of its form.
We ignore the deaths of many—
We heed the screams of none—
So we can say that we’ve done nothing,
When that’s exactly what we’ve done.
We’re all dying in yesterday’s future
And living in tomorrow’s past
And I only wonder just how long
These tiny lives will last
Author's Notes: I just found this as I was cleaning out/reorganizing my junk room at home... I wrote this... oh, about 4 or 5 years ago, and thought I might put it up here and see how it fares. Feedback would be appreciated!! Thanks, and blessed be!
