The Tree
by Wood Witch

One day while I was walking I came upon a tree.
It spread and stretched out wildly as if reaching out for me.
I stood for what seemed hours admiring all it’s grace.
I wondered how it felt to always stand in place.
I gazed at it’s branches ever raising high,
continually confusing scrambling on the sky.
I realized then why it had reached for everything in sight,
it wanted so to move it tried with all its might.
Author's Notes: I have an affinity for the wood's, old growth trees are a blessed event to come upon, I am inspired by the time they spend on this earth watching us.
There is one tree that draws me, it is the white birch and when I am even driving in a car I always get a glimpse of a grove of them and turn my face their way. It is said to commune with Mother Earth one must simply find a grove of White Birch and meditate in it.
You may have heard of "Tree Huggers" from the old "Hippy" days , but I am one and you should try it! They stand with their veins of sap full up to their tops and as they blow in the wind they're inner bones rub together and groan and talk to you, it is a very exciting thing ... like being close to a large horse.
