The Star

by Crimson Star
 Age Group: Adult

This is a little story I wrote and a friend suggested I post it to witchvox so here goes....
The Star
Once there was a star who’s light shone so brightly that it lit up the vast expanse of space around her. But in time it seemed as though no one noticed or appreciated the star any more so her light began to grow dim.
Even her constant companion, the darkness that embraced her began to reject her as it found other things in the universe to fill it’s time, and her light grew dimmer still. Alone and confused the star sought out to the Goddess for wise counsel and consolation.
The Goddess explained to the star that very few understand true beauty when they see it, and that the ones who do see it are afraid of it. They are afraid of it because they do not understand it for true beauty is complex much like the mystery of the Goddess.
She consoled her star that she was not alone in her feelings of being forgotten, as her children on earth had done the same to her for many years. And that her light as well began to grow dimmer.
But then she smiled and a glimmer of starlight flashed in her eyes. She went on to tell the star that those who had forgotten her for so long had began to seek her out and love her again. They were no longer scared and were once again willing to learn and understand her complex mysteries to embrace her once more.
The star replies, “But you are a Goddess, how does that compare to my situation as I am a mere star? And the Goddess smiled again, “ all things in the universe carry my spark.” “The light and beauty you radiate comes from that spark of me within you, and the more you embrace me the brighter it becomes.”
Then the star asks, “Does this mean I will be alone in my existence? Will my companion ever return?”
The face of the Goddess changes and now she is the crone. And her only answer was “Will you limit your existence and experiences in fear and lying in wait?” Then she vanishes…
