My Hair Is Silver

My hair is silver, not gray.
My eyes are chestnut, not brown.
And Jenny Joseph would say,
Clad yourself in a purple gown.
And so I wear my purple skirt,
And hold my head up high,
And quickly wink in harmless flirt,
At gentlemen passing by.
And red is the color of my hat,
With slippers of matching hue.
I don't care what you think of that.
I please myself, not you.
An aging woman I am not.
I'm much more the regal Queen.
I gave more than a passing thought,
To the way I should be seen.
My hair is silver, not gray.
My eyes are chestnut, not brown.
