Burning Times

Age Group: Adult
The taste of blood in my mouth,
Is old, as dust is.
A faded memory come through time.
A reminder,
Of what once was.
So says memory.
Screams burn the night,
Flames lick the skin
Blood blackens to dust.
This is a reminder,
A memory that says--
Do
NOT
Forget.
For I will not
Forget
Those times.
Author's Notes: I wrote this one night after a bout of nasty nightmares. It seemed to just flow and helped me get back to sleep once it had been purged from me and into the form of a poem.
