Mother vs. Father

Ten years and my wounds are still unhealed
Ten years and my tears still haven't dried
Ten years and my worth has sunk below sea level
Where do I go frm here?
Gone is the light frm my almond eyes
Gone is the grateful smile for life
Gone is the memory of their God status
None of it is missed at all
I miss the morning light thru my window
I miss the picnics every weekend at the park
I miss the comfort of a kiss after being tucked in
A dark corner is now my only security
They told me not to worry everyday
They told me I was too young to understand
They told me they loved me after every fight
I refuse to believe them now
I tried my best to make them happy
I tried my best to forgive their choices
I tried my best to accept a mistake
Why should I try when they don't care?
I know now that my life will get better
I know now I can only Love MYSELF
I know now the past is there for a reason
And only Spite can encourage the faint memories
Author's Notes: My parents divorced in 2002. I've been feeling the reprecussions. The "ten years" clause refers to the point when their fights started to worsen- at the age of my understanding. My relationship with them is now on a roller coaster of trust.
