Dear Diary

I’m tired of being told what to do, who to be, how to think. People just drive me crazy, crazy, crazy with all of their hypocrisy. Pointing dirty fingers and ordering me to wash?
“Stay off the Rez.”
“Wear some make-up.”
“Think before saying.” (Are you kidding me?)
Shut-the-f***-up!
Go away and leave me be…consoled in my bedroom corner. I want to cry, but I guess I “shouldn’t” because those days are over. If I could, oh, how I WISH to wallow in my mother’s embrace again. These childish desires are improper for an “adult, ” according to society and “friends.” Well, f*** you all! THIS IS ME…Arlene Rochelle Smith! Telling me what to do AIN’T GONNA make me think or act any different!
Author's Notes: Wrote this in April, 2011.
This was kind of an epilogue-type poem thingy for my English class portfolio. I was angry when I was trying to do my homework and this poem reflected on how I was feeling that whole day and it was kind of a, "hey teacher, this is what my poetry is really like when I am not being forced to write!" :P But this poem was in no way intended as an insult to English or to my professor and I explained that to her in my portfolio's artist statement.
