Inside Myself

Today the words "It's a good day for dying" ran through my head. I have no idea where they came from but they sat down and decided to stay awhile. I entertained them for a bit. Even as I pushed them out the door of my inner sanctum, they were still whispering ~ It *is* a good day for dying.
But NO, I will deal with this implosion as I have in the past. It is not like I am a stranger to mental illness. Much better minds than mine in my line of descent suffered these same (and worse) ills.
I am a SURVIVOR. Sure, I've been to hell and back so many times that there are ruts in the road where I slogged my way back to sanity time after time. This time, as all the times before, I will HIDE:
Inside myself.
Hiding inside myself.
Where no one
else can come.
Where no one
else can follow.
Inside myself.
My own little world.
Safe and secure.
I am insulated,
wrapped, cocooned
Inside myself.
A place to run to,
a place to hide
From the outside world
with its clamor
and constant yammering.
Its strident noise.
Here I have flowers
and sunlight and music.
Butterflies and birds.
Words that play tag
and paint pictures
of enduring beauty.
Inside myself.
Hiding inside myself.
A fairy-tale kingdom
that I created
and where I reign.
Where I'm important.
The only place
in all the world
where I can be
totally alone
whenever I choose.
For as long as I choose.
Inside myself.
