Warrior Crone's Lament

I have long stood at your threshold,
Yet you will not let me in.
I’m in your heart and in your blood
A new time must begin.
Your are stubborn, brave and strong
But what eludes you most
Is the peace born out of power
As you slay your passion’s ghosts
Seek no more the light of knowledge
You’re already bathed in gold
Now plow the fields of heartache
And take possession of your soul
Why think you mortals vex you?
Babies, children, women and men?
Your doors are always open
Your own weakness lets them in.
They hold the keys to rooms within
That’s where your treasure lies
You can be both darkness
And the light in someone’s eyes.
You must wrest your time of solace
From the hands that hold you down
Wait no longer for your freedom
Time is precious and yours is now.
Author's Notes: As we pass from 'seeker' along the road, somewhere something happens and we become beacons for those who think they want to follow in our footsteps. Sometimes, it's not all it's cracked up to be...and this was borne out of one of those moments.
