The Beltane Lovers

Lo! My love walks tall
in the shadow of the oak.
Awaiting him I stand
in the dappled shade of the willow.
I look up and see the Sun chariot
rising in the east
In the west is the silver wisp
of the full moon,
It is time.
Spring has been reborn
and now is a man
Come to plow the furrow
of the Goddess' bounty.
Light the fires and be merry,
Ignite the flame within.
Answer the Goddess' prompting
Glory in Her gifts.
It is time.
Here I await His oaken presence
Here we will lie.
We will pleasure well in each other
For such is honor to Her name.
Here we will glory in the dawning
Of a new season.
The oaken staff
wrapped close by the willow stem.
Author's Notes: I believe that the union of two bodies is the earthly embodiment of the act of Creation, and as such, is one of the holiest acts we humans can take part in. The suggestive element of this poem is suitable for Beltane...as that is the time when our Lord and Lady are joined as one and the world is reborn anew!
